Junior Regatta
SHYC Junior Regatta 2026
The SHYC Junior Regatta is a friendly one-day racing event welcoming junior sailors from clubs across the region. We host Opti RWB, Opti Green, Laser Radial, 420, and RS Feva fleets on our beautiful stretch of Long Island Sound. Green Fleet racers are welcome and will have their own course.

09:00–11:00 — Check-in & Launching
11:15 — Skippers’ Meeting (Opti RWB, FEVA, 420)
11:30 — Skippers’ Meeting (Opti Green)
11:30 — Harbor Start
12:00 — First Gun for Opti RWB, FEVA, 420, Laser Radial
12:15 — First Gun for Opti Green Fleet
15:00 — No race will start after 15:30
16:00 — Awards & Reception at the Clubhouse
Practical Information for Visiting Clubs
Launch Location: Our launch site is separate from our clubhouse. Please plan to travel to the launch site at 600 Colonial Road, Guilford CT 06437 — just beyond the landing. Do not navigate to the clubhouse for launching.
Tide & Timing: Low tide is around 10:10 AM. Optis and Lasers can launch soon after low; 420s and Fevas should plan for 11:45–12:00. First gun will be delayed for any fleet held up in the back of the harbor.
Footwear: All sailors must wear appropriate footwear. Local oysters are not kind to bare feet.
Getting to the Clubhouse on foot: Proceed to the dead end of Colonial Road, cross the footbridge, and take a right to Chimney Corner Circle.
Lunch / Food: Lunch is not provided. A post-racing reception with pizza and snacks will be held at the clubhouse following awards.
On the Water Communications: VHF Channel 69.
Awards & Reception: Awards follow directly after sailing. After the final race, please proceed to the club docks (not the launch site). Awards for the top three in each fleet; all Green Fleet racers receive an award.
